Yes, I know which is why it is for example purposes only

Also, if a majority of members voted for that divisional alignment, then UVA would have to either (unwillingly) accept it or leave the conference and all revenues entitled to them under the current GoR. One advantage to the 4-5 super conferences having divisions based on geography is it will make it easier and cleaner to breakup into smaller conferences without having too much reorganization (outside the breaking up of the super conferences) from the schools. Ultimately the new whatever could look similar to the NFL or MLB structure without any reorganization. If the new whatever wants to look like the NBA or NHL, then it would require some reorganizing of the schools.

Honestly, I do believe that the ACC would probably use the zipper model for a 16 member conference and play a 9-game conference schedule (1 protected cross-division and 1 rotating cross-division). Not sure about the 18 or 20 member conference. If the ACC incorporated the zipper model, then the divisions could look something like this:

Atlantic/Coastal
Syracuse/BC or BC/Syracuse
WVU/Pitt
L'ville/Notre Dame or Notre Dame/L'ville
VT/UVA
Wake/Duke
NC State/UNC
Clemson/GT
FSU/Miami or Miami/FSU

Under this scenario some pairings could go either way. I know Clemson would like to be in the same division as FSU, so Clemson would have to decide whether it wants to keep the "Textile Bowl" (against NC State) or the FSU game an annual contest. Since the ACC has 7 dominant football schools, the split will either be 4-3 or 3-4. I believe the ACC would place VT and WVU in the same division. Also, I think the ACC would prefer to have BC and Notre Dame in the same division. From a regional standpoint, I think it would make more sense for BC to be paired with Syracuse and Notre Dame with L'ville (hence why I didn't pair BC and Notre Dame together). Also, I do think the ACC would try to make sure neither division has an "island" problem. For example, I don't think the ACC would prefer to see BC and WVU (BC's closest division foe) in the same division while Syracuse and Pitt are in the opposite division. The more likely scenario would be WVU and Syracuse in 1 division while Pitt and BC are in the opposite division (more balance with the islands).
